This morning I felt so humbled.
I was training BJJ at this small gym here in Ho Chi Minh.
It’s a No-Gi only gym and the guys there are very focused on one aspect of the martial art: leglocks.
And it struck me how much I still have to learn…
Just to put some perspective:
I’ve trained Jiu Jitsu for more than 12 years…
It’s my actual job to teach this sport every day!
And there I was, feeling like a complete beginner again.
Seeing all these layers of complexity, details, and information that I was completely unaware of.
FUCK!
Isn’t this so much fun?
To know that the thing you most love and dedicate yourself to is practically endless.
That you’re going to keep learning new things forever.
That there’s always going to be people better than you, who know things you don’t know.
And actually, almost all areas of our lives are like this.
That’s why we need to stay humble and open to learning from anyone!
This definitely was not the first time I had this realization, but today was intense, so I thought I’d share it with you guys.
Greetings from Vietnam!
