Today I fucked up one thing at work…
Shiiit, I hate this feeling!
But there’s something I read one time, a mental model called the Five Minutes Law:
It says that every time something bad happens, you have the right to be sad, angry and complain for five minutes.
And only this!
After this you move on and focus on solutions instead of the problem.
That’s it.
And I like to combine this with another similar one, the 10 Years Law…
When something happens, you ask yourself:
Am I going to remember this mistake or something bad 10 years from now?
Most of the time, the answer is no.
So why the hell are you so upset about it?
The reality is that we are building castles in the sand and writing in the sea.
Our work is not so important after all and we and everyone in the world are going to be dead just 120 years from now.
Think about that for a moment…
Our existence is so brief.
And we insist on putting so much importance on everything as if we are the most important thing in the universe.
This kind of philosophy helps me stay grounded and move on.
Let’s keep up!
