July 9th, 2024 – First Day in the 26th Country

Just arrived in Ho Chi Minh City!

Formerly known as Saigon, it changed almost 50 years ago but apparently a lot of people still call it that way.

I don’t have a lot of opinions yet to be honest.

I landed at 2 PM.

Just took a Grab (the Asian Uber) from the airport straight to the hostel.

The receptionist informed me my visa is valid just until the 19th.

And I was thinking of staying until the 29th, so I need to change my itinerary again.

But this time I fucked up.

When I was applying for my eVisa, I just understood wrong and then missed the dates.

But this kind of stuff happens, not much to do here.

And this can mean another country.

Maybe that trip to Korea I was wondering about.

Will need to solve this in the next couple of days, will keep you guys posted…

After check-in, I just went for a walk around the area I will stay.

Found a cool place and had a Banh Mi, one of the most traditional Vietnamese foods. It’s just a sandwich inside a baguette (the French left a lot of influences here) with local ingredients as fillings! I really enjoyed it!

Then I found a really nice cafe right next to my hostel, probably the place I’m going to come to a lot on this trip!

And I’m here right now, 6 PM, writing this post!

I’m feeling very happy and grateful for being in Vietnam, the 26th country I’ve stepped in!

Reminding myself of the incredible life I have!
